For a novel propulsion system

BACKGROUND

Microsatellite

In these days, launches of micro satellites is increasing. 90% of the satellites launched in 2013 were of 50 kg class or less, since micro satellites are low cost and short development time.Participation in space utilization becomes more easier for academy, venture company and the developing countries by microsatellite.

Super low altitude satellite

The super low altitude satellite flights at the super low altitude of about 180~250 km, so this satellites can observe with high resolution and reduce emission power of active sensors. The super low altitude satellites can minimize the device for observation and decrease the power consumption for sensor. These satellites have to compensate the drag by using the thruster. The electric propulsion system is suitable for compensation of the drag because the thruster should be operated while orbit keeping and the mounted propellant mass is restricted due to the small room.

Purpose

We assumed the microsatellite which flights super low altitude as shonw in the right figure. The required thrust, specific impulse are 1 mN and 1000 sec respectively, within the total power consumption in 10 W.
